Wind the bobbin up..

Wind the bobbin up, wind the bobbin up,
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap,
Wind it back again, wind it back again,
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap.

Point to the ceiling, point to the floor,
Point to the window, point to the door,
Clap your hands together, one two three,
Put your hands upon your knees.

I remember the first time I heard this song – in the rather incongruous setting of a mother & baby yoga session, when my eldest was about 6 weeks old. I thought ‘what is this song??’ – I’d never heard anything like it before (though the Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes traces a version back to the 1890s), yet it is probably the most useful song for parent toddler groups everywhere, and probably the first song most little kids learn. Certainly my lot could all do the movements and sing the tune long before any other song.

The actions are, I hope, obvious..
